Our names are Bill & Shelly Taylor and together with our three children - Luke, Matt and Grace - we have been breeding and training horses our whole life. We eventually realised that buying a horse to suit everyone was virtually impossible and so it became our goal to produce the dream horse tailored to suit any rider in any discipline; hence the beginning of 'Taylor Made Horses'...

As the Taylor family had been breeding horses for over three generations before us, we had a very fortunate start. In the beginning, we sent one of our top performing thoroughbred mares (I'm A Cat) away to the great 'Star Black Minstrel' and bred ourselves a colt. 'Taylor's I'm a Minstrel' (Black Star) then became the father of all our top polocrosse mares at the time.

 

In search of the perfect cross to put over these mares we later purchased a colt called 'Carrigans Betterman' who is sired by the one and only 'Hazelwood Conman' and out of a Docs Freckles Oak mare (Carrigans Bettys Oak). The results have been better than we could have hoped for! Betterman's foals are all incredibly fast learners, love stock work and have taken polocrosse easily in their stride.

 

Following the passing of our beloved Black Star in late 2017, and with a seriously talented up and coming string of Betterman polocrosse mares, we decided it was time to up our game and introduce some fresh blood. We purchased a young colt 'Secreheart Acres to Burn' (Acres Destiny/Adios Reflect) & a thoroughbred stallion 'Elmoore's TeeJay' in 2017 & 2018 respectively. We are presently in the midst of breaking in the first of these foals and so far we have not been disappointed.

Overall, we believe there is a strong mix of highly desirable, intelligent and athletic bloodlines presently roaming our home property Marjundale and we are all exceptionally excited to see how the progeny of the new stallions turn out. We strongly believe that when you purchase a horse it should be tailored to suit your needs as a rider and that is our ultimate end-game as horse breeders. Our horses are handled by us all right from the day they are born and it is a family effort to mould them into the talented mounts they have the potential to become!
